Community Foundations are charities located across the UK dedicated to strengthening local communities, creating opportunities and tackling issues of disadvantage and exclusion. Community Foundations have three main areas of interest: Building a permanent endowment fund to support the voluntary sector for years to come; targeting grants to groups that make a genuine difference to the lives of local people; identifying areas of need and gaps in provision of support.
During 2007/2008 the seven Community Foundations across the South West of England attracted £5,730,102 in new donations to their endowment funds and they distributed 2319 grants worth £6,530,571.
Though separated by geographic boundaries the seven Community Foundations meet regularly, share training and co-operate on cross-border projects. Our website is one way of sharing our local successes and providing information for you.
